WP Text Ads Plugin

WP Text Ads a WordPress plugin that lets you sell text links ads directly to advertisers so you cut out the middle man – no commissions.

The scenario normally goes like this if you are using Text Link Ads or another Link seller to sell your ads.  They take 50% of the profit and then you get paid weeks later.  So the suggestion by WP Text Ads personnel is just this you use their plugin sell your own ads at a discounted price and get paid immediately when an ad is taken out on your site.

WP Text Ads offers advertisers 3 ways to buy ads on your site; individual post, home page and all pages. Rather than a fixed price you could offer $5 per post, $30 homepage or $50 for every page. You get to set your price and they benefit from the savings! The plugin is available for $127 per license or a free version with allows you to sell up to 2 ads in each category. 

The theory behind this plugin is great but there is one problem – promotion.  The reason for sites such as Text Link Ads is simple – they promote and sell your ads for you.  I actually sell text links direct from my site on request and the process is simple they Paypal the money to me and then I ad the link manually, no plugin needed.

So if you do not need promotion at a 50% cost and you do not like adding links maually then the WP Text Ads plugin would be a great method of allowing advertisers to input their ad directly onto your site.

    I like your idea better, but am curious if WPTA has a track record. Guess they could not help much unless you already have some traffic.

    Personally I think if someone wants to advertise on your site they do not mind email and Paypal-ing the money.

    Wow wow wow…I just started working on a WordPress plug-in to do this. However, mine was going to be free with a simple option to donate to me via PayPal. I think I’ll continue to work on it, and maybe I’ll even offer a free “marketplace” where advertisers can find all publishers who have the plug-in installed. After all, the market aspect is a great benefit that TLA has over this plug-in.

    I’m planning on selling links via the digitalpoint forums. I just have to wait until I’ve made 25 posts. I hear that it’s a really good way to sell links. I also plan on contacting companies who are buying links from related sites.

    Yes Digitalpoint is a great forum as well as Sitepoint. Contacting smaller companies works great we’ve been very successful with direct sells by contacting directly.
