Top Blogging Is Not For Everyone

Top Blogging is not for everyone! Starting a new top blog site has to be one of the hardest things that I can think of that someone can attempt to do in life.  After you have the site completed and you think that all the bugs are worked out there are most times always extra things that have to be done. Such as with a Wordpress blog, I started this blog 10 February 2007 and I have been installing and tweaking almost everyday it seems.

Anyway so finally you think you are out of update hell and your site is ready to show the world but wait a minute there are 11.5 billion or more other websites on the net.  Now being faced with that it is time to give up right, no this is where the hard work comes in and never stops it’s constant!

Take it harsh/blunt or however you like if you can not communicate/write then you should delete your blog now. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again content is key and with out it you will fail regardless if you want to make money or give advice/stories away free. If you have not deleted you blog just yet then I would suggest asking yourself a few questions such as:

  • Can I communicate well?
  • Can I write effectively?
  • How computer savvy am I?
  • How determined am I?
  • What is my blogs short & long term goals?

Answering questions on paper (or in word) is quite easy. Now all you have to do is come up with the content! The most important aspect of your site, original content that people want to read and then tell others about. The thing that makes a personal blog superior to other websites is that it’s a personal site that allows interaction and bond forming with readers.

Top Blogging is not for everyone and that’s why only a mere 1% out of 100% succeeds. Any Thoughts?

No. I’m 100% not agree with you, Jason. Blogging is for everyone.

Blogging is a part of civilization. More than that, it’s the way for everyone to actualize themselves by words.

Nowadays, blogging is becoming more popular from days to days. I’m wondering that in a next few years from now, blogging would come into new culture of the world.

It’s just habit that matters.

I can’t agree with the thoughts expressed in the article either. Someone might just blog for the sake of letting others know whats happening in his/her life, and may not need to even be regular in it.

Your perspective is more applicable towards professional blogs I think.

An angle I did not consider when writing this post. Ok then of course any one can blog for their family and friends or just for themselves with them as a reader base only. If you want readers/traffic besides your family members and friends then you must consider the above.

    So, title change
Top Blogging Is Not For Everyone.

I like such healthy “give and take” of suggestions. It really improves a lot of things – and I like the way this place has been made interactive. Sounds to me like “living blogging”.

Believe me, Recently I had to ask a popular blog’s author in my comment, to reply to the 50+ odd comments by one generic comment. But he did not bother till then, I don’t know why.

But after approval of my comment, he cared to reply and I stopped visiting that blog now. I don’t mind if someone doesn’t reply if not necessary but when everyone was waiting, the blog author shall reply at his/her earliest.

I think this gonna be one of the important points “How you care about your readers” to make it to “top blogs” sooner or later.

Hope this comment adds some value!

Well, I 100% agree with my husband. I think this post is very relevant to many people out there thinking they can make money blogging. It takes hard work keeping a blog up and running because you have to post good articles/content to keep your readers coming back, unless you want a blog that you just read yourself.

  6. Jason Neuman

Thank you ‘Life is Corourful’ yes I agree a blog editor must be just as involved with comments as readers and I addressed that in an article some time back ‘How To Increase Blog Comments

    Good title change!

I would say that if you are passionate about your topic, then all the other areas your have mentioned can be overcome. Even if writing is not your strong point with practice it can get good enough, at least that is what I am hoping;)

But I think that you do not need to be very computer savvy, with my hosting provider it was almost one click to install wordpress, zero hassle for me.

  8. Jason Neuman

You have to be somewhat computer savvy. To install Wordpress is simple but to tweak a template design somewhat making it your own is another story. Install over 20 plugins and not to mention others changes that are necessary. The list goes on and on. Have you honestly taken a good look at the state of some sites – layout etc?

But yes that is correct if you just want to install Wordpress and go no further then that is simple for some but not all. I do know a few people that are having trouble just getting the Wordpress theme to work and they have only just installed it.

Top Blogging is not for everyone, but it’s not only a mere 1% out of 100% succeeds. There are so many blogger success story I have read. And lot of friends in my region have the good talent to become a top blogger, but they don’t want start blogging.
One I agree with you; Top Blogging is a hardworking. Blogging is just like this pic:

    Samuro –

mmmmm, well with over 80 million blogs out there and 1000s starting daily on the net what percent would you guess are successful and my next question would be define success – :)

  11. Matias

I would say that it is much easier to outsource computer knowledge, than it is passion in your topic:)

As for success if you define it as being able to blog and give up your day job then the percentage is probably more like <0.001%. If you define success as being being heard or connecting to your community then I would say that it is more than >1%.

I am not counting dead blogs in these estimates. A dead blog for me would be one that was updated a few times at inception and never again.

  12. Satria Anandita

Aha! This time I’m agree with this title, Jason!

  13. Jason Neuman

Sounds about right since only 1% of bloggers make more than $100 per month.

  14. Increase WebSite Traffic

being a “top blogger” doesnt necessarily mean you are successful… and not being a “top blogger” doesnt necessarily mean you aren’t successful…

I dont picture myself as becoming a huge self absorbed blogger, but I do think I will be successful in my unique ideas, etc.

  15. dott-com

nice post Jason because keep all reader think again. Actually blogging is for everyone but to be the “top blogging” it’s hard. Only 1-2% success from blogging since blogging not 1 day job.

For me “blogging” is for everyone but to be “top blogger” you must earn it your self.

  16. samuro

over 80 million blogs out there and 1000s blogs starting daily on the net. This statement make more motivated to be top blogger,

  17. Life is Colourful

And just imagine what problogger or shoemoney must be enjoying… something which all of us want to achieve one day.

  18. Jason Neuman

I’m sure they are making enough to pay for their hosting.

  19. Life is Colourful

I wish I would pay for such web hosting costs touching the skies through my online earnings once in lifetime.

But things are looking better – and with the guidance of few good & very useful “money making” blogs, naive bloggers would come up sooner or later.

  20. Sharry

I agree with you that Top blogging is not for everyone. However, anybody can blog. As for me, I blog to release my emotions. I blog to let my friends know how I am. I blog when I feel like writing my thoughts down, when I want to see the workings of my mind right there on screen. It gives me some kind of perspective. :)

I don’t know how many top bloggers are able to keep up the workload. I find it difficult just to keep up with all the reading of blogs never mind writing them!

  22. digitalnomad

I like your list. I think is is good to make a list of why you do things. It makes you think, forces you to put it in writing, and give you the opportunity to come back and review.
