Increase Your Traffic Sell Your Blog
According to John this is an evil plan and could piss people off (does it?). So basically after reading his post on promotion ideas on how to get more traffic I decided why not do it and sell Ja Kel Daily on Sitepoint.
The difference is I am not pretending to sell my site if someone meets the reserve price I have set at the sitepoint premium auction ad then I will sell and go on to starting another site. According to Dane Carlson ‘How much is your blog Worth!’ Ja Kel Daily is worth $530, 103.06 maybe I’m selling to cheap at $25,000!
Site overview info from the Sitepoint Auction:
- Over 16,671 backlinks in the major search engines.
- Over 2881 Blogs linking (Technorati calculated).
- 7910 Google indexed.
- Page rank 5 for the last two updates.
- Alexa Traffic Rank for jakeldaily.com: 3-month average 98,352 with a one week average of 83,728.
- Technorati Authority 928 Rank 2523 (for jakeldaily.com domain).
- Traffic for 7 June/7 July – over 29,150 visits, over 13,892 uniques.
- Earnings for March approximately $1200
- Earnings for April approximately $520.
- Earnings for May approximately $1315.
- Earnings for June approximately $560.
- Earnings for July (as of July 8, 2007) approximately $335.
- *note earnings are based off celebrity and technology site using a mix earnings method to include; Direct Sells (AdPods), Text-Links-Ads, ReviewMe, AdSense, AuctionAds, Kontera and Affiliate Sells.
Traffic 404 unique visits in one day and the advertisement has 29 days left! A premium Sitepoint auction ad will cost you $40 which will calculate to a very low CPM over the 30 day ad time. A great return on investment and if someone wants your site bad enough and you sell then that’s a win in my book also!

Very good plan, looks like it will be a very good $40 well spent for the amount of visitors you have already received!
How many did he receive?
So far 18 hours after the post I have received over 500 hits I posted it for 30 days under the premium section and the upgraded section.
This would only be evil if you definitely not sell it. The $25,000 asking price is on the verge of evil, but I think it is a well chosen price. Good Luck.
Well I was thinking of an asking price of $10,000 but since I will be selling our celebrity blog and forum I had to consult with my wife and this is the amount we agreed on. If I sell great and if not great because the traffic is cheap and it’s targeted for this site.
Sitepoints market stats:
80% are males, with 50% aged between 25 and 40.
51% rate their internet ability as advanced, 28% are experts.
88% invest their own money in furthering their careers.
50% have been online since 2002 or earlier.
71% build web sites professionally for a living.
22% own their own businesses.
84% influence the purchasing decisions of the company they work for or own.
41% have an annual income between $40,000 and $100,000 USD.
7% have an annual income greater than $100,000 USD.
58% reside in the USA, Canada or the UK.
I completely understand bumping it up from $10,000 to $25,000. That celebrity blog has the potential to be a great money maker. People love to read about celebrities for some strange reason. (me included) Your wife is very smart for getting you to bump it up.
The only flaw I see in this plan, is Chow’s original idea of naming your blog after yourself.
I think that is why Jane May recently changed the name of her blog. I don’t know this for sure, but I think rhis would be an educated guess.
Wow this is a great and evil way to generate traffic, nice job. How much did it cost you?
$40 premium Sitepoint auction ad
Stats Update: 822 hits second day.
How about the starting bid of $50?
I’ll buy it now.
How about no
since I’ve already made more than $500 this month.
Man what are the rev stats since the ad?

[...] read a post by Jason Neuman of JakelDaily a few days ago in which he encourages readers to list their blog for sale somewhere to get cheap [...]
Received my first criticism from blogging tips about selling my blog for traffic. Thank you for the extra traffic.
I read your article and I somewhat agree with you. Yes adsense will give you targeted traffic but it is hit and miss also because they may click the ad stay for a second and never return again.
Yes it’s true I paid $40 for the ad on Sitepoint and have every intention of selling if some one wants the site.
(These Sitepoint stats is why in my opinion the ad is targeted)
80% are males, with 50% aged between 25 and 40.
51% rate their internet ability as advanced, 28% are experts.
50% have been online since 2002 or earlier.
71% build web sites professionally for a living.
On the other hand I have sold three articles on the blog network equaling $75 so this ad and traffic has been free including the traffic I will receive from your site.
When it comes to advertisement it’s all a gamble.
This is pretty cool stats
nice, at least i can see the process. Dosh dosh ever write about iphone blog hosted on blogspot sold out. Perhaps I can see something unque here. I just know Kevin Yank in Sitepoint, who teach me PHP
Nice stats.
Jason, I agree with you to a point with adsense. You need to spend time targeting keywords and websites for adsense to be worthwhile. Personally, I’ve always preferred alternative advertising methods.
I’m glad that you are happy with the traffic i sent you
I dont believe that you should look at it the way you do eg. making $75 from advertising doesn’t mean you should go and blow on it on something. You need to see some sort of return on your advertising, heck you could even pocket the money.
I don’t think that you should look at advertising as a gamble. If you do your homework about a specific advertising medium then there is not so much of a risk. I just believe your $40 would have been better spent elsewhere.
I’m somewhat confused I thought the point of advertisement and traffic was to make money – I clearly made money from this advertisement and there is still 28 days left.
I see this ad as a result.
Are are implying that the $75 in ad sales came as a direct result of the listing at sitepoint?
Yes that’s what I’m implying they emailed stating they saw my ad and asked about the blog network and then purchased
I read about this on bloggingtips. Interesting idea, but kind of devalues the sitepoint marketplace if it were full of fake sites for sale.
Like I said before I will sell so there is nothing fake about this – two blogs and our fourm for sell. 17 months of work building up over 30000 links and soon to be PR6 rating next month. 25,000 is fair price if someone wants to buy.
you havent disclosed any indication of earnings in the listing so its unlikely you will get any offers (from experience, buyers always need evidence of earnings, particuarly for a price this high). For a price of $25,000 the site would have to be making at the very least $2000 per month to get a sale in my opinion (this prices the site at 2 years of earnings but some sites sell for 12-18 months of earnings)
Why would sell a site for $25,000 that is making $2000 per month? With site progression that figure would surely increase into more. Besides that price is my buy it now price I have never disclosed my reserve – have I
I gave one screen shot of my paypal if a buyer was truely interested I can provide more earnings statments if needed. Anyway I am curious what would you value a year and half of your time and over 30,000 backlinks and according to next Google PR update the site will be PR6?
I have bought and sold over 500 websites in the last 5 years and that is probably the highest you would get for a site that is making $2000. There are a lot of factors that determine the price of a site however earnings is one of the biggest factors.
I get the impression you dont want to sell anyways
If you really want a site you need to put up screenprints of traffic, provide evidence of earnings, detail where traffic is coming from etc.

Hi, Jason.
Looks like you’ve written a great post. The discussion is alive!
I think that you’d better build another site to be sold within next several months rather than sell Ja Kel Daily Dot Com which only value you $25,000.
The reason is this blog is your personal blog. I think personality shouldn’t be ’sold’.
I agree with Sarita. If this is going to be a biz model for you, start some other sites and sell them…keep the one with your name.
I think selling a site with your name on it has potentially other problems down the road (IMAO).
See? I have Mr. DigitalNomad on my side! Hahaha…!
But, my name is “Satria”, not “Sarita”.
Sorry Satria…sticky fingers.
Good point Satria but this sites domain is not name – I’m Jason Neuman
Yes, I know. But “jakeldaily.com” refers to “Jason and Kelly Daily”, doesn’t it? It has a deep meaning, I think…
Yes that’s correct – very creative of me.
More than likely it will not sell anyway due to the fact it is a personal blog unless some is wanting it for the celebrity blog side of it and backlinks.

I was wondering if this site domain is Lysondaily.com (Kelly and Jason Daily). Very creative of me? Hahaha… I’m only joking…
Very funny
I don’t think your domain is worth $25,000

It’s even much more than that!! Hehe!!

Very disappointing for interested buyer… lolz
that is an interesting idea, i would have never thought that doing that would drive traffic to the site!
Thanks
I read some of the posts and I think it is a great blog. I want to improve my yellow voter A joke for you! Why wouldn’t the dishwasher’s gloves fit? Because he had Dishpan Hands!
Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog.
