Generating Free Traffic To Your Website

The quickest and most effective way of getting traffic to your new site is to submit articles to sites that are in your field.  The first thing that I do after I publish a new article to my blog is submit it to news release sites. What sites do I use?  You will notice that four of them are listed at the bottom of each of my articles.

Maybe you thought that the links were for reader submission but actually it makes it easy for me to just click and submit when I have an article that I think is worth uploading to them. Below I have listed the best choices of news agents that are available for article submission.

Del.icio.us: a collection of your favorites and everyone else’s in the community.  The primary use of this service is it allows you to store your bookmarks online giving you access to them from any computer. You can then store them and organize with the use of tags. The key here is that you can share them with whom you like so once you upload a bookmark you can then make it public the Del.icio.us community. SignUp Here

Digg.com:  Started in 2004 and what great about this site is that the editor does not choose what sites makes to the front page the user community does. How does it work? You submit your story it goes into the new article pool and people start reading your article and if you get enough votes (diggs) then you article eventually makes it to the promotion page. Then depending on the requirements after around 100 – 300 diggs you could possibly end up with your story on the front page.  If your article sucks then you can kiss any hopes of traffic goodbye. SignUp and Submit your article here

Reddit.com:   Owned and operator by CondeNet, Inc, they purchased it a while back but I forgot the date of the purchase. Anyway another place to submit your articles and I have noticed that even if you submit a mediocre article you will still receive on average around 20 – 40 hits depending on the height of readers that day. Basically Reddit is a community website where users can post links to content on the web to be shared by all. Then other users may then vote the posted links up or down, causing them to appear more or less prominently on the front home page. SignUp and Submitt Here

Netescape.com:  A social news portal programmed by you—the audience! All of the stories on Netscape are submitted and voted on by our members. The stories making it to the home page are a cross-section of the most popular stories on Netscape as determined by votes and comments from our members. The Home Page consists of a list of 25 stories. These 25 stories consist of 2 stories from each of the top 10 most popular channels and 1 story from each of the next 5 most popular channels. This service is product of Netscape Communications and Weblogs, Inc. and part of the AOL Network owned and operated by AOL, LLC, and a Time-Warner company.  SignUp and Submit Here

Slashdot.com: This site handles the news for the nerds basically the largest geek site of the universe.  The catch is that they do not post all articles it has to be editor approved and trust me if your article is approved you will know because you will get so much traffic that server or hosting will more than likely crash from people trying to read your article that day.  Chances of getting your article submitted are pretty slim but if your article does get submitted have your hosting services on speed dial ready for the enormous amount of traffic you are getting ready to receive.  Just a tip anti Microsoft goes over really well. Submit your story here:  (http:/slashdot.org/submit.pl)

Fark.com: If you are wondering what stands for, well it’s another word for F*** that Drew Curtis made up when he used to say random words while playing online games in the 90s and well he decided to register Fark as a domain. Most stories that are posted are just ordinary ranging from interesting to “dumbass” and only around 5% make it to the front page of Fark. Submitt here: (http:/cgi.fark.com/cgi/fark/submit.pl)
