Ferrari Header – First impressions count
Ok the Blog Blond reviewed my site this weekend and has pointed out that my site needs a make over. She says that my quote is wordy and who’s wants the boring fence feeling and that I could get much more attention by adding a Ferrari to my header since I have one available to use. Supposedly people want to “view sexy, expensive cars–not chain link fences with the impending sense of doom attached to cliffs.”
What was I thinking she’s right no one wants a picture and quote with meaning behind it. Everyone wants the greener grass on the other side of the fence so why not just put it on the header and give the people what they want. The Ferrari a dream sports car for most and you can have it for a day just as my wife and I did for a day at a price of around $800 plus $1 per mile over 100 miles plus tax. I loved every minute of it to include; driving to the front of the Bellagio and having the valet take the car and the sound of the engine when they brought the car back to us, the drive through red rock and when we out ran a Porsche, and last but not least our drive done the Vegas strip.
He would bring a LOT more attention to his blog were he to take down the header with the photo of the fence and the subtitle which is too wordy and confusing, “Life’s Boundaries Greener Grass or Unexpected Cliffs”. Who wants the fence feeling? Not me! I prefer the red Ferrari.
When I first set out to complete this task I thought it would be easy to just format the picture for 809 x 190 and then up load it. This was not the case at all I spent a few hours trying several different ways to get this picture to format into this horrific format size. So do I just give up? I wanted to but I did not I ended up formatting the picture to 500 x 225 or so then I used both adobe and paint brush to manually copy and past in scenery and road to fill the requirement of 309 more in width. End result in my opinion I did quite well in the digital imagery department. What do you think? Hopefully this will give an excellent first impression that will keep you coming back my way.

Pretty freaking hot! I would recommend changing the outside background color to something a little bit darker. Will bring more attention to your blog itself. Lookin’ good.
Yeah I was in a thinking process on how to change up the color scheme. What do you think now.
Oh yeh! This header looks hot! Good job…move to the front of the class!
Thanks for the tip.
Um…am I crazy?
I still see a fence.
Guess I’d better clear my cache and try again..
Nice work on the re-makeup to the looks above. It looks ‘hotter’ than before. Definitely. Correct me if I am wrong. *grins.
Too bad I didn’t see the “fence” sigh….
This one looks good.
How many sites use the same template as John’s and also with cars and has Dot Com as part of the title?
Well the Misty 3.1 Theme has over 36000 downloads. Not sure only many of them have cars.
I missed the fence as well. This is better, I would think. As long as it is for real.
Yes I must admit the fence picture was a little boring but I assure you the Ferrari picture is real my wife and I rented it in Vegas I have the pre formatted pictures that are 7mb if anyone needs proof.
Although the fence/cliff picture and quote had good mental meaning behind it.
[...] was very boring and my quote was to confusing so I changed it to the present Ferrari Header which has been making a good first impression ever since. You only get one chance to make [...]
The header is great!
