Comment Relish Wordpress Plugin
A few weeks ago I commented on a blog and I received an instant welcome/thank you and invite to subscribe to the sites RSS feed. My first thought was wow this is something that I would like to have on my blog.
I never actually got around to searching for the Wordpress plugin or coding that would enable my site to be able to send this instant email after comment approval. Then just yesterday I was doing the usual checking out sites looking for topics and I found the plugin that more than likely they were using. Comment Relish – Download it.
Visitors love interaction, especially a personable approach at gaining their attention and spiking their interests. Increasing the overall readership of your blog revolves primarily around content, accessibility and presentation. In an attempt to gain return readers and possibly subscribers, I present Comment Relish.
What is it: Comment relish is a Wordpress plugin developed to send an e-mail message to users who comment on your website who have never commented before. The message dispatched to the user is defined within the plugin’s preferences. Numerous tags have been integrated to allow for information to be included in the message easily (I.E.: timestamp, author name, comment, ETC.).
After downloading it just install it and activate it just like any other plugin. Once you have it activated go to the settings of Comment relish and fill in the necessary email fields; Name, Email, Subject and Content. The content section has a list of tags that are embeddable within the subject line and content body of the e-mail message you create. Simply insert the tag (IE:%ARTICLE%) where you would like the article that the reader commented on to appear.
My Email Example:
%AUTHOR%
I just wanted to send you a quick note and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. Since I am trying to cater to all of my readers, I hope you found value in your visit.
I appreciated the comment you left on %ARTICLE% and I hope you will consider subscribing to my RSS feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/jakeldaily/feeds/). This way you do not miss out on any great posts
Thank you,
Jason Neuman
A great PR plugin for your site I highly recommend it - download it here. I was actually thinking of putting another line to promote advertisement – what do you think?

Hi, sounds like a great plugin. Thanks for the tip.
i use the plugin and it really helps make people come back.
Yes I would have to say this is one of my favorite plugins - so far.
Have you tested this yourself? How long after a comment is posted does the email get sent? I have installed and activated the plugin but the email doesn’t seem to be getting sent.

Scrub that last message - the ‘Enable Comment Relish’ field will get me every time

Yes I’ve tested it a few times the messages sends as soon as the first comment is approved but I see you’ve found the issue - selecting yes for enable comment relish. I also wanted to check what the format of the message looked like after it sent. My example works great but can be modified of-course.
Everyone, I really appreciate the positive feedback for Comment-Relish. Its unfortunate that a few individuals have had some issues with the plugin as it relates to their site or other plugins running. I’ve been extremely short on time so I haven’t had much opportunity to do some off-hand support. However, I like hearing that it is someone’s favorite plugin - so far, really makes me happy!
Let me know if anyone has some ideas for future enhancements. Good day!
I really appreciate the time you have taken in order to make this plugin successful a great added feature to Wordpress blogging. Oh wanted to add that I noticed that you were from Oklahoma - I graduated from OSU 2002. Anyway keep up the good work.
