Checking In from England

I finally got some time to set down and make an update. We’ve been really busy spent the weekend in London “wife’s 30th birthday”. Today was our daughter’s evening out for dinner “tgi fridays” and a movie “Bee” at the BlueWater mall (Europes largest mall). The rest of the week in England will consist of spending time with relatives, with the possibility of making a business trip to Cambridge.

London was great and expensive as usually but I’ve gotten used to the currency robbery, costing 2 (dollars) to 1 (pound) since we visit quite often. If you have kids our daughter loved the Bee movie it was a great evening out.

London Weekend Price Tag

Zuma 127.44 (pounds)
Theatre 120.00 (pounds)
Sloane Hotel 290.25 (pounds)
Black Cab & Underground 69.20 (pounds)
Shopping 400.00 (pounds)

The total came out to be £1007.20 (pounds) $2014.40 (dollars) for our London weekend. I highly recommend the Zuma “Japanese Restaurant” and the “Lord of The Rings” theatre show if you’re in London some time soon. The show was excellent, lasted approximately three and half hours with an intermission around half way through.

Unfortunately, I’m not into taking pictures of my food I just can not bring myself to take out a camera and take snap shots of food in a five star restaurant. However I can recommend the spider roll, California maki, chirashu maki, blackened code, sesame spicy beef, and tejina chocolate dessert with a cappuccino. I drank traditional Japanese beer but if you are into wine be prepared to pay since the cheapest bottle on the menu is 145 pounds.

Site Header Custom Design
We have also been working via email with graphics designer Mark Robison on the design and installation of our new site header. I can highly recommend him for related work; exceptionally confident and project turnaround time is excellent.

Online Store Open
Today I set up an online shop using Cafepress to sell shirts and other misc. merchandise with our new site logo. If you’re looking to make money online selling with Cafepress don’t bother the product prices are set high and there is no room for a profit worth messing with. It is more geared to sites that just want an easy way to offer some merchandise to readers that may be interested.

I know what you mean…. London seems terribly expensive! But i just love the city and i feel that it is a wonderful place to just explore with a map in your hand and on foot because of all the really quaint little lanes and bylanes that you would come across.

You are in Britain and not a word about the weather?

I agree with London is very expensive and I prefer living in US..

Did not think to mention the weather as I come here so much. It’s been cold around 10c but not much rain this time around. Yes, London is expensive but one of my favorite places to have a meal and then to go out afterwards. Luckly for me my wifes relatives live 30 minutes outside of London so it’s easy to take a day trip in or a weekend break such as what we do most times after we droup our kids off.

Thanks for feedback on the header - James

Thank you. The weather is the most favorite topic in Britain. At least it used to be, whenever I visited some years ago.

Nice new Header, I like it! I think, your price tag is really low for London. When I think about it, I think that I have to take a look at the Ryan Air Homepage ;-).

Sounds like you’re having a lot of fun in London. It’s crazy how fast things add up, but you only live once eh.

I think that I have just erased the comment I tried to post. I am glad that you had a safe trip to London and I like the new look to your blog. I am sure you have probably heard that at least 25 times. But it really cleaned up the look. I am sure you already know by contacting the company you bought the domain name from they will show your contact info for more exposure of the sale.

I was on vacation for about 3 weeks hello and happy new year to you and your family.

We went to London once, many years ago when the exchange rate isn’t as horrendous as it is now. Of course, we were just passing through on the way to Dublin, so no chance to rack up a bill like yours. Ouch!

I hope you had a nice trip :) I know everything is so expensive in London, you have to look carefully if you want to find something cheap but with good quality…

  15. Life is Colourful on January 12th, 2008

My gosh! This is glimpse of expensive weekend in London. I could spend our weekend in Universal Studios in 1/3rd of money last month.

  16. Real Estate Basics on January 13th, 2008

Wow, that’s a lot of sales $$$ to lay out! But as I say, you only live once and if you enjoyed yourself, it was money well spent!

  17. Manchester Parking on January 15th, 2008

London has rip prices every where.Always had been like that.
For any American, with the dollar as it stands(2 dollars = 1 pound),it will be very expensive.

The rest of the uk, is much cheaper and there is just as much to do.

Please check out Manchester, my home town and the UKs second city.
Plenty to do here and better atmosphere than london.

Sounds like you had a grand trip. I know what you mean about the ‘robber’…you can operate on one of two attitudes over there…1. it is so expensive, i am going to eat from convenience stores and only do free activities or 2. it is so expensive, but, I am going to enjoy myself, damn it and worry about the cost later!

Sounds like you picked the right option! :)

  19. lingerie and swimwear on January 17th, 2008

Nice article about travelling in London. But you have to tell something about the weather.

  20. Chucks on February 4th, 2008

Thanks for the tip and info. As for your expenses, was it worth it? If yes then don’t see it as robbery. It’s good to have fun every once in a while.

  21. Jason Neuman on February 4th, 2008

Exchange rate is robbery not the actual cost if I was paid in sterling not so bad but since I am paid in dollars everything is times two, getting used to though since we go quite often since my wife is British.

  22. web design on February 22nd, 2008

Seems like it was a nice trip, but pretty expensive one.

  23. Gadgets4nowt on February 22nd, 2008

Glad to see that someone is commenting on our weather.

To be honest, it is impossible to tell what we are going to get these days. The climate here is generally a bit warmer than it was - winters are relatively mild and we see very little snow. Not even many hard frosts to talk about.

Summer hasn’t been too bad of late but June 2007 did see some amazing floods - June 206 had seen a hosepipe ban!

How on Earth did you spend £69.20 on cabs and undergrounds. How many people were in your entourage!

  24. Jason Neuman on February 24th, 2008

Two people: Home to / from London, Cabs to / from Hotel, Dinner, Shopping. When is the last time you’ve been in London because the underground / cab prices have gone up?
