Mega Millions Jackpot Winners in Maryland, Kansas, Illinois for 640 Million!

Mega Millions Record History! Sad to say I wasted $10 and lost 🙁

(CNN) — A few lucky folks in Maryland, Illinois and Kansas woke up Saturday — if they slept at all — to the dawning realization that they will soon be quite rich. Just about everyone else woke up to a less sparkling conclusion — they weren’t winners.

“Oh Mega Millions, why do you shun me?” one Twitter user mused on the social networking site.”Dear news updates on my phone, stop rubbing it in that I didn’t win the mega millions!!!” said another. Mega Millions winner used Quick Pick Tips for the winners: ‘Get a good safe’ Will this app help you win next time? 42,000 lotto tickets sold a minute in TX. Lottery officials confirmed Saturday that at least three winners will split Friday’s record $640 million Mega Millions jackpot. Winning tickets were confirmed in Maryland, Illinois and Kansas according to lottery officials. The winning Illinois ticket was a quick pick sold at the Moto Mart in Red Bud, Illinois, according to the Illinois lottery. The winning Maryland ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven store in Baltimore County, the Maryland Lottery said Saturday. And the Kansas ticket was sold in the northeastern part of the state, according to the Kansas State Lottery website.

The winning numbers were 2, 4, 23, 38, 46 with a Mega Ball of 23.

Lottery officials are waiting for information on potential jackpot winners from other Mega Millions states. California Lottery Commission spokesman Alex Traverso said 29 tickets sold in that state matched five of the six winning numbers. He said the payout will be about $125,000 to $130,000. The Mega Millions lottery is played in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. The multistate jackpot had caused long lines at convenience stores, with many dreaming of creative ways to quit their jobs if they get the lucky numbers. Sales skyrocketed at Manhattan Tobacco, a New York convenience store, cashier Alex Shanahe said. He said the store has proved to be lucky before, having sold winning tickets of $3 million and $5 million.

“The sales have tripled. Everybody wants to win the Mega Millions,” Shanahe said before the drawing. The odds of winning the jackpot were about one in 176 million, which means a person would have a better chance of getting struck by lightning.Economist Austan Goolsbee, a professor at the University of Chicago who also chaired the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said winners should take the lump sum instead of the annuity. The choice comes down to interest rates, and with interest rates at zero, the lump sum just makes better financial sense, he said. Psychologist Scott Bea said if a winner is a poor money manager and has been unhappy in life before winning, that’s likely to continue.”It solves one problem, but it creates a half-billion others,” he said. “You have about no chance at winning this, but it really gets people excited.”His wife asked him if the couple could spend $10 on lottery tickets.
“We could probably flush it down the toilet and have the same outcome, but if it gives you some hope, why not?” Bea said.

The Pope Meets The Bush Family

The Pope lands in the USA to meet President Bush, his wife Laura and daughter Jenna, was on the runway to greet the religious leader personally.
In America on a six-day visit, the Pope celebrates his 81st birthday on Wednesday, an event that will be marked with a lavish dinner in his honour at the White House. The man himself will not be in attendance, however, as he’ll be leading a prayer service in Washington.
During his stay in the States, the pontiff will address the UN, hold Mass at two baseball stadiums and lead prayers at the site of the 9/11 attacks in New York.

John Loughrey Mad Princess Diana Fan

John Loughrey said “I’ve always been a Diana fan, but last year I woke up one day and decided to paint her name on my forehead – it just felt right,” he says.
“All I knew was that it had to be blue, because it’s a good colour – a royal colour and I know she liked it, so I’ve been wearing it ever since. She’s very important to me.”
So important, indeed, that he has spent 48 days – today will be his 49th – sitting extremely still on the same blue plastic chair in the public gallery of Court 73, watching the Diana inquest unfold before him.
“All I want is to see that the truth will out.
“And it’s terribly gripping – you’ll see what I mean in a minute.”

All I can say is the guy is a nutter.

£1-a-Day Slimming Pill

A slimmming pill said to help women drop a dress size could be available over the counter within months. Taking an Alli tablet with every meal is claimed to cause 50 per cent more weight loss than willpower alone. The £1-a-day drug – the first of its kind to be sold without prescription – promises to cut the weight of men and women by between 5 and 10 per cent in four months. Around a quarter of those taking Alli are said to find their weight drops by at least a tenth. For an 11-stone woman, this would mean shedding more than a stone – or a dress size.
After a successful launch in the U.S., where sales have reached £75million in six months, GlaxoSmithKline is preparing to put Alli on chemists’ shelves in the UK. The pill is a half- strength version of the prescription- only Xenical and is intended to be a supplement to a healthy diet and regular exercise.
A spokesman said: “The bonus of taking it is that by just dieting and exercising you can safely lose two pounds in a week.
“We say you can lose 50 per cent more, so instead of losing two pounds, you lose three and reach your goal weight a little bit quicker.
“It’s a motivational thing.”
Glaxo has applied for a licence to sell Alli in Britain with a view to launching it next year. The drug will be displayed behind rather than in front of the counter, and packaging is likely to contain information on healthy eating and details of a weight-loss support website.
I don’t think slimming pills should be brought over the counter and should only be given via prescription from your doctor because women and men will over take the min dose to lose more weight.

Cocktail Launched At £35,000 A Glass

The World’s most expensive christmas cocktail is being launched today at a notorious, London A-list hang-out.
“Flawless”, at £35,000 for a costly cocktail.. Well this expensive glass include a large measure of Louis XII cognac, half a bottle of Cristal Rose champagne, some brown sugar, angostura bitters and a few flakes of 24-carat edible gold leaf, according to The Guardian.
But the real extravagance is an 11-carat white diamond ring – which can be found at the bottom of the glass. If I was paying that much for a ring I would rather have something made and unique, but hey I don’t have silly money to throw away like these rich people do.
A property developer, who is among the first to order the drink, says it’s a christmas present for his girlfriend.
“I just thought it would be a nice thing to do for her. She has so many other things.”
Asked if he doesn’t have anything better to do with £35,000, he said: “It’s about the same as a holiday, isn’t it?”
Movida is known for it’s extravagance. It claims to be the “world’s biggest supplier of Don Perignon” and boasts sailing “effortlessly into the Top 5 in the world for their sales of Crystal champagne.”
Labour MP Sion Simon said: “It’s like sticking two fingers up at the rest of society.
“You might as well set fire to your money in front of those less well-off.
“It’s a very deliberate way of saying ‘We are not part of the same country as you.'”
Social commentator Peter York agreed: “It is so gauche, so crashingly crass, that everyone else will see the buyers as barely literate, as one step up from a potato.
“It will be one of those things that unite both the middle class and the old rich in a belief that the super-rich come out of some kind of primeval ooze.”

Kylie Minogue Concert Tickets £500

Sharks snapped up blocks of the best tickets for Kylie’s shows at London’s O2 and Manchester’s MEN arenas in July moments after they went on sale at 9am. Ticketrunner.co.uk was soon offering two 02 tickets for £500 each. eBayer chantal2297 asked £675 for four at Manchester. Andy Snape, 34, of Leicester, was forced to buy two 02 tickets “in the clouds” as the best had been sold.
But he can’t go as wife Rebecca, 30, a Kylie nut, hates heights.
He said: “Good seats are going for a fortune on eBay.
“Due to this greed I can’t go.” Source The Sun
