Blog Tips and Celebrity Gossip One Domain

Many current readers are aware of my craziness when it came to my decision I made back in February to use one domain for this blog and my wife’s celebrity gossip blog.

Update for new readers:  ‘Two blogs one domain double power’ an article I wrote 3 April about this evilness/craziness.  Many then said I have discredited this blog by using the same domain and so on but basically it’s too late to turn back now(unless you have a working solution).

A lot of bloggers battle back and forth on the idea of using blogger.com or to use Wordpress.  Ja Kel Daily on the other are using both the celebrity gossip site is hosted on blogger.com using a cname record to forward the blogspot URL and this site is hosted on GoDaddy using Wordpress.

Google Search (SEO): “make money blogging” my wife’s site comes up 6th on the first page! Now that’s funny our celebrity site coming up in the same category as make money sites.

In an attempt to organized these sites together I have redesigned the celebrity gossip site to look as much like this site as possible (logos, layout, etc).  I placed a Blog Tips button on the tool bar of the celebrity site and placed a link in this site in the Top Three News since I am unaware of how to make a button that links directly to another site without creating a page on this site (also put the info in my about section).

What are your ideas/suggestions and criticism?

It surprises me that you have two blogs on one domain. It’s the example of craziness, indeed.

By the way, it’s OK. In fact, your wife’s blog is very nice too. Maybe you can make your post footer to be a link to your wife’s blog with anchor words like “Hear what Kelly Neuman talking is!” rather than “If you liked this post, buy me a beer”. I think this is relevant to your ‘personal’ blog. Moreover, put a PayPal donation link as your post footer wouldn’t give you a significant income, doesn’t it?

    That’s all my suggestion.

Don’t you think “Buy me a beer” is seen somewhere else as well - I think at John Chow.

By the way, tell me keeping two blogger blogs on the same domain name, one with WWW and one without WWW won’t get me into trouble if blogger / google decides to support both WWW and without WWW domain names to point to the blog?

One blog blogger and the other must be hosted using the root directory in your hosting. People use CNAME records all the time for mutiple blogs on one domain that is all I have done created a CNAME record using the WWW and then using the root directory I was able to use the domain without the http://WWW.

I could create as many blogger blogs that I want with the jakeldaily domain using CNAME records and then pointing them to blogger hosting.

    Examples:

    http://celebrity.jakeldaily.com
    http://whocares.jakeldaily.com
    http://tech.jakeldaily.com

Then create 3 blogspot blogs and then point my CNAME record to the blogger hosting and then start blogging on blogger - a done deal.

There’s not an online law that states you have to use mutiple domains for blogs. Why buy more domains if you really do not want to - when there are CNAME records under your dashboard for your domain.
