Great list! I love reading things like this–the advice is simple, but always good to hear again. I found your blog from blogcontestsite.com–Did you see any increase in traffic from the Viralink with the matrix of stars?
Nice compilation of the 50 various ways for traffic, Jason.
Encourage readers to comment, respond to comments and add comments on other blogs [your comments shall make sense though]
A full and concise list. The thing about increasing traffic is the addiction though. How many users love to see their PR go up? All of us! lol
really good scan through list…
jason, you need 2 pages if you want to described all the list with example..
50 ways to get traffic!?. Wow. It’s really giant list!.. very usefull. Thanks Jason.
Traffic - yes an addiction that is well needed for both PR and increasing the success of your site.
I think in these days of hyper SEO-marketing, #39 is probably the most crucial of all. There are *people* on the other end reading your stuff!
Another option might be to submit your blog post, if it’s useful and you’re particularly proud of it, to Faimous.com, a wholly user-generated search engine/forum.
Love the list Jason. Nothing is more important than traffic in this business and….oh that reminds me, gonna go give #18 a try. See ya!
Jason, that’s a nice list. I tried to see how many of the 50 tips actually apply to me and my website - found about 20-25 that I can say I do regularly. However, I will try to expand my activity and reach close to the 50 things you mentioned.
Mike
I love lists! They are so simple and you can check them off! I love twelve, which is essential unless you are posting pictures of naked women!!!
Very informative article. I will try to follow this list carefully as I continue with my journey in the crowded blogosphere
Thanks for this. One point that keeps coming up again and again for me (and that is included in your list in a couple of ways) is this: be true to yourself and your blog. If you have something totally unique you feel good about it (and the search engines will reward you too, I think!).
“Write about your kids”
Don’t have kids yet.. what should I write then?
I have never read this post. We have recently started a blog. It is not near where it should be, but it is hard to find time. This doesn’t mean that the blog sux. We just have some work to do. I will be coming back to this post in the near future. Oh and I thought that I would at least get a laugh for the laptop comment in the readers read post. lol
Blogs take many hours per day of your time and can take years before you see any good results or make good money. With Jason site-pro he does not have to update daily but with my celebrity posts I have to update daily and research who is doing what in the world.
I think your comment about the laptop is the only one that has ever made me laugh. Lately I have been going through so many comments for Jason, nothing as good as yours lol.
See that is why we have put it on the back burner. Being so busy with the website it is hard to get great post up frequently. Do you two contact people to advertise your blogs or do they contact you? And without sounding rude roughly how much do you make off of the advertisements. Do you get paid per click or a monthly payment?mWe do Google adwords but nothing like the banners I see on the daily.
Without giving out exact figures I make a very good monthly wage more than some people earn monthly in their regular job. I use google adwords too but I dont use pay per click does not interest me.
How can you get $$ without those pay per click ads? Referrals?
I have companies come to me to advertise.
Never mind I found what I was looking for. But they do contact you right?
I want companies like Homedepot to call me and want to place a banner. Just looking into how it works for future reference.
Just to let you know the big guys dont tend to advertise on blogs, unless you blog is getting a million plus hits.
great list, I can try them like a rule to work on my blog
