Top Commentator Digitalnomad – Review 1
As promised I am giving away a free review each month for the next 6 months to the holder of the Top Commentators Position and the month of March the free review goes to Digital Nomad. Every month the Top Commentators will reset so do not worry if you are commenting for the first time this month, all is fair.
At first glance of Digital Nomad you automaticly know that it is a blog hosted on Blogger. This is not a bad thing I too use Blogger for my Digital Nomad has already commented recently on my site stating that he has plans to switch over to Wordpress and I think this is a good move on his part. However if you have been using Blogger for quit some time then think twice because you are already indexed really well and more than likely have a good PR score and when you switch you will be losing all that you have worked for on your Blogger free account. Try to keep in mind that there are many successful blogs on the net that are using Blogger and making a killing in profits.
My over all perception of the layout; Digital Nomad has an unorganized perception to me I like everything to have a formatted look to it. I think that blogs tend to look better if they are formatted with some space around the entire blog with similar sized ads and buttons. This is a personal opinion not stating that it’s a must but if you look at a lot of the very successful blogs out there you will see this trend. An example of what I am talking about is my Wife’s blog that is also hosted on Blogger but I designed the template in way that has been very successful for other bloggers such as Boing Boing. If you noticed even on my site I choose to make my ReviewMe button instead of taking the free one like everyone else just because I wanted it to look formatted, it just looks tidier to me.
When scrolling down the site about half way down you come to the about section of the editor and he gives some brief info, contact and his RSS feed above it.
Digital Nomad paradigm shift: Embark on the journey of making a living online with a portable business, having the ability to travel and work from essentially anywhere on the planet.
I am glad to see that he has given this section but I think that it should be located further to the top so that people can find the editor of the blog quickly without any effort and the RSS so people will start subscribing more. Something to take into consideration would be to give you real name/picture and stop hiding behind the dark hood. As a blog editor do not be afraid to reveal your self there is only one you and that is what makes your site unique. A mistake I made for a very long time hiding behind an author tag for editor name and not revealing any personal side to me and I soon realized that is the most important aspect of a blog.
Overall I think Digital Nomad is off to a good start seems to be posting daily with some interesting articles to read. So keep up the good work and remember with blogging it is about being persistent taking in the bad and the good (just opinions) – and never give up until you reach your goals.
E Savings Account Where’s Your Money
This subject actually came up yesterday when a colleague was talking about how they were unsure what they should be investing their money in. The first question I asked was where do you have your money now and of course it was setting in a savings account that draws around the National Average of 0.82% (U.S.). I know that there are different averages internationally but I am going to focus on the (U.S) since that is where I am from.
This is something that you hear all the time (I do not know how to save) well at least I do anyway. An easy solution is take charge of your life and start putting your money into the highest yielding savings account you can find, until you can get your head out of your ass and learn or find a financial advisor to help sort you out. Why is it that people spend more time researching what cars, pizzas, and clothes they are going to buy than they do on how to save and what the best possible place is for their money?
The worst thing I’ve heard about saving money actually came from my father when he said why save your money when you may be dead before you retire and get to spend it. While this may true yes you may die but what if you don’t! Everyone has their guilty pleasures just as my wife and I have ours (cars) but we still research, plan and set successful goals for the future.
Off Topic Some: We spent $50,000 on a BMW Convertible and to some that is a waste of money. Our answer to that is we maybe dead (father’s reason) before we are able to buy a luxury car when people say it is appropriate to do so. You know when we are unable to see and walk and then the grandchildren come over and steal the car. Which brings to me to say, Where’s Your Money take control of your finances like you would do to ensure you have that pizza, burger and beer on the weekend. I know that I am going way off topic oh wellbecause I wanted add some facts about my life that show the ability for change and taking control of your life! Ok, my background poor trailer trash kid that swore to himself that he would never live that way again and have been digging himself out of that hole for years (if you like that life then more power to you -I do not). Accomplishments so far; Bachelors degree from OSU – Computer Information Systems, Minor in Management, First Real Estate investment purchase 28 (Kelly (British-Wife) purchased her first & second house at 19 & 22 – influenced me on Real Estate investment), that BMW at 29 paid cash, Successful Marriage, Great job working in Europe, Seeing the World Traveling, setting values to live by and doing things for our children that I could never imagine as a child growing up. Oh and almost forgot I am 32 now and Ja Kel Daily Dot Com one the most successful blogs on the net – around 2 years from now.
Back on subject since I have been using E*Trade (5.05%) for four years now and they have the new Complete Savings Account that has no minimums and no account fees (5.05%), I will be recommending them because the bottom line is they satisfy all my financial needs; kids trust funds, e-payments, mutual funds, stocks, CDs, and of course the savings complete account. In case in the back of your head you are thinking this is an affiliate attempt on my part it is not. At the moment I just want to help people get the most out of their money. However if I do find an E*Trade affiliate program I will definitely be promoting it in the future – just like my RSS Feeds.
There are other E Savings accounts out there that have much higher yields than the average such as; ING Direct (4.50%), Emigrant Direct (5.05%) and Citibank Direct (4.75%). Unfortunately, I do not have any recommendations on the International side since I have not done the research so I am leaving that up the International readers to educate others by commenting on what places are best to save your hard earned currency at.
Bottom line is that people are going to do what they want in the end but at least research things first before just doing what you and leaving your money in the first hole in the ground that you find.

Anyway last week we disconnected our home phone because we were sick of paying the Belagcom Phone Company that like to take all of your money so now we just pay them for the internet access, which is still high - 43 euros! Yes, it had to be done as much as I love my laptop you just can not get away from the fact that you need some sort of cordless phone glued to your ear, well my wife does anyway. Turning Page Views Into Profits
Readers that have been following my site for the last 8 weeks (10 – Feb – 28 – Mar) know that I have been experimenting with different Network programs such as Amazon and Auction Ads to try and find the best suitable one to fit the needs of the site. I did not like the format of Amazon and it seemed that Auction Ads was making the site load slow. However I was making money with Auction Ads so later on I may find another use for them from time to time. Last night when I was reviewing a site that exchanged links with me had this network called Chitika eMiniMalls a beta program that was recently released by them.
So I went to investigate a little further and liked what they had to offer. The signup for Chitika is really simple just input your personal details and site details of course. When signing up they do have requirements which are they only accept sites with at least 10,000 monthly page views, contain significant, good quality content and are predominantly in English and are well-organized and regularly maintained. Luckily I already meet that requirement and I’ve accomplish that in less than two months, not bad in my opinion.
Chitika (pronounced CHIH-tih-ka), founded in 2003, is the industry’s leading impulse merchandising company. Based in Marlborough, MA, Chitika helps web publishers generate revenue using innovative publisher-side advertising and merchandising solutions and services.
The following day I checked my email I found my email from Chitika welcoming me and stating how excited they are to let me know that I am approved to start using the new eMiniMalls on my site. Chitika a distribution network, currently catering to over 1 Billion monthly pageviews, is made up of 12,000 participating blogs and websites and according to Chitika they are the leading merchandising network.
There are many categories to choose from but the majority are electronics related and there are 17 ad formats available. The related products unit has a requirement that unfortunately I do not meet at the moment, which is a Chitika publisher who has made at least $100. OR: Your site or blog must receive at least 50,000 page views per month.
Payments are sent out monthly via Paypal when your balance crosses $10 and for checks the minimum balance must be greater than $50.

Top 10 Methods to Find New Readers
I know that I have been on the subject of increasing RSS & Readers the last few articles but I feel it is an important area of successful blogging. So today I figured that I would post one more article this week on my top 10 methods that I feel are the most valuable for getting your RSS & Reader increase on. Then I promise I will lay off the subject for while with the exception of responding to comments on the subject of course.
- You have to be persistence after you start your blog you can not just set back and expect traffic to just flow in because you are posting articles.
- Write effective post titles (opening line) that cause your readers to feel need to read your entire post.
- Quality content is an obvious and will help increase both traffic and commenting flow to your site.
- Posting frequently but keep to a routine time schedule. I post a minimum of one article a day six days a week Monday – Saturday.
- My favorite getting links from other blogs both increases your readers and links to your site. – Technorati Score.
- Submit to blog carnivals something I have not started yet but intend to very soon. Google “blog carnivals” to find available sites.
- Commenting on related blogs can be an extremely effective strategy since most blogs allow a signature link to your site and when commenting it entices the author to take a look at your site.
- Join forums that are related to the main topic of your blog. I have found that with most forums they allow signatures links and when readers of that forum like what you have to say more than likely they will end up visiting your site.
- Never be afraid to be opinionated in your articles it is your blog and more than likely if your opinion is controversial the comments will start pouring in.
- Yes, advertise take some of your earnings later on and start advertising on other blogs/websites that have a related interest to your site.
Those are my top ten effective methods of increasing your RSS & Readership that are working for me so far. I know that there are many available methods out there that I did not list and if you have one that is working just comment and share it with everyone.
Increase Your RSS Feed Subscriptions
The question is how to get people to subscribe to your RSS feed? It’s an excellent question and actually one that I am still working on my self. Just a quick observation of the blogs in comparison to mine that are around two months old I feel that the amount of subscriptions are going quite well so far but I want to increase them past the sky. The first thing you should ask yourself is do you have content that is actually worth subscribing to because if not why would you even expect someone to subscribe to it and want to read it.
If you’ve notice I have placed my RSS feed subscription button up top. A problem that I have noticed on some blogs that I have reviewed lately is that they are placing their buttons at the bottom of their blogs or in the midst of a pile of colt err that would take weeks to find like damn contact emails that seem impossible to find on some blogs.
Do not be afraid to promote your feed with an image that people can see like my RSS Desperation Button because text links just do not cut it people miss them most of the time. The way I see it is you have a few seconds once a perspective reader first enters your blog and you of course want to convince them to come back for a second look and the RSS is an excellent ideal to possibly get them back to your site. SO put the subscription button up top so when they enter they will hopefully see it and then sometimes they still will not see SO maker it bigger if you have too. Another method for promoting your feed is the use articles that generate traffic. Consider those posts as key entry areas that people could possibly see your Feed Link and subscribe. Just get creative use any method of promotion you can think of to get readers to your RSS FEED subscription page. Then at a last resort you could even run an Ad Campaign on Google Adwords if you are truly desperate to get the increase in RSS readers.
Now last but not least it is about time you started educating your readers on what RSS has to offer. Maybe your readers are not aware of what RSS is or how to even use it. Say your blog is a non tech related blog and your readers are not aware of what RSS is then write a post that explains what it is to them. Then add a RSS button that links to your post. FeedBurner also offers an email service and this is an excellent alternative to getting the readers that refuse to use RSS no matter how much you enlighten them on the subject. Start offering full feeds to your RSS subscribers and make sure your readers know about your offer. Yes I know there has been much debate over full and partial but there many examples out there that show your numbers will increase as soon as you start offering the full feeds.

Secure PHP Contact Form Plugin
I finally took care of my contact form today just one more thing that I have been putting off because to be honest installing plugins and then editing css code is really the last thing on my list that I would actually call fun. Just one big f-ing headache if you ask me I prefer to just write my articles and then post them.
I love Wordpress but if I had to review it I would say it is just one big apple tree without any apples (apples being plugins). I haven’t seen many contact form plugins for wordpress, but this is certainly one of the best that I was able to find in the apple Internet orchard. Anyway the plugins above are the ones that I have installed and activated for my Wordpress blog. I know that there are more plugin apples to come and I can’t wait I just love it.
Google the Voting System – Website Page Rank
The Google voting system and how it affects your website popularity. Ok, how the voting system works when someone places a link to your site on their site Google sees it as them voting for your website. So someone voted for your site this means that the Google-bots then think ok this site is important enough to have another site linking to it. Next step the Google-bots checks to see what the ranking is of the website and if it is not at least 4 of 10 then the incoming link will more than likely not count for you in a sense. What does this mean?
The reason behind this is that Google is trying to provide quality content sites that have more exposure by using this page ranking system to only allow sites with relevant quality content for the output of Google searches.
Simply put Google ranks pages based on a “vote” cast system. A link from a relevant popular website is the best way to increase your Page Rank score not your brother’s Cow & Pig Blog with one visitor per month! Lets get started with getting your page ranked higher; web directories, reciprocal link exchange, outgoing links, write quality articles, well designed site, optimized site, link farms, link exchange services, and FFA listing are a few good areas to start with, I’d say.

It has been said that Google has a system in place that makes it useless to inadvertently add links to your site just for the sole purpose of “trading links”. The reality of the situation in my opinion is that trading links is a must even if Google-bots do not like it for their Page Rank system because there are other reasons for exchanging links besides optimization of your site. If you are trading links for the sole purpose of search engine optimization then you should try and find as many sites that will trade with you that have a rank of 4 of 10 or higher.
On the other hand if search engine optimization is not your’ only motive such as one of my motives to get the highest rank possible in Technorati it does not matter if the site has relative information or a high page rating. Some more insight to exchanging links is that you may actually find a site that you like and visa versa. Then you are increasing your feed readers and the incoming repeat traffic from those readers to your site. Later if those sites you linked to eventually become high ranked with in Google you have already linked to them so in the long run you will get what those damn bots were looking for in the first place, plus the bonus of repeat readers.
While I am thinking about everyone on the net has to start somewhere right so why make an entire assumption based off a Google-bot Page Rank system. You never really know how well a site may do in the long run and if you did not give them a chance then just maybe they will not think so highly of you later on if you just happen to ask a favor of them.
Blackhawk – Belgium to Paris France
My free Blackhawk ride to Paris today was pretty exciting I must say maybe you could say a once and a life time experience being able to cruise above the countries of Belgium and France at a speed of 150 miles per hour (top speed 218) and around 1000 feet altitude.
I do not want to mislead you here this is not the normal war fighting Blackhawk it has been modified in the inside to take VIPs to different locations so I was riding in the comfort of leather seating and at arrival in Paris France I had a nice cappuccino and then we were on our way back to work.

Free at no cost to me I enjoyed this ride from Belgium to Paris France. How did I do it, for those of you that may have missed it when I stated what I do for a living in the beginning of my personal blog. I am U.S. Government employee working in Belgium as a Computer Services / Network Administrator and from time to time I get freebees for doing an excellent job.
I’ve been told that it is possible to get a free ride in an F-16 Jet and I am working on getting my name on that list also, so one day if you stick with me on my blogging journey you can rest assure that I will be trying to take pictures from an F-16 Jet sometime in the near future, an ultimate goal of mine.

The title of my article is merely me testing out posting an article (SEO) with my anchor selection make money to see how much it helps my ratings for the searches of Google. I’m no SEO expert but all I can really say that I am in a learning process and I know that others are using keyword anchors and becoming successful in their search rankings from Google.
I have a suspicion that SE’s like Google have well over a hundred factors that determine the ranking of sites such as the outbound and inbound links.
From experience I can say that the titles (tags) of your articles are very important and when the keywords are searched you will receive more hits depending on the title of your article. An excellent tool to use for monitoring your keyword progress, page views, and just over all performance of your site is Google Analytics and it’s free.
I’ve been using it from the start of my blogging hobby and it has prove very useful in this area. As you can see from the screen shot that I’ve uploaded I had 285 page views for 20-3-2007 with a 67.24% return visitor ratio. Since I know my return visitor ration I therefore know that my readers must like what I am doing so far. The software also gives a breakdown percentage of where the page views are coming from which is nice to know also. If you are not using Analytics you can sign in by using your Google account or sign up if you do not have a google account, it’s been a great help for me so far.
Google analytics helps you identify the keywords, ads, referrals, and campaigns that contribute the most to your bottom line. Learn how visitors interact with your website and identify the navigational bottlenecks that keep them from completing your conversion goals. Find out how profitable your keywords are across search engines and campaigns. Pinpoint where your best customers come from and which markets are most profitable to you. Google Analytics gives you this and more through easy-to-understand visually enhanced reports.
Guidelines from a SEO perspective include; to many links can be frowned on by SE’s, keep them relevant – similar to your site, appropriate keywords (anchor text) and links from high rankings sites will all have an impact according to the principals of SEO. My opinion for me is that I only follow two principals choosing an appropriate keyword that I want to be searched for and keeping it somewhat relative – all bloggers. I also like the idea of having all high ranking sites linking to me because I know that will have a definite impact on traffic but the fact is that not all high ranked sites like me yet.
Review My Blog Link Back – Batch 4
Wow, yes it’s another short review batch starting today I just filled batch 3. Ok, really simple I will do a short review exchange with anchor choice for the same in return. Here’s an example of what I am requesting to be included in my reviews and if you want to add more then it’s entirely up to you how you decide to review my blog negative or positive.
Ja Kel Daily Dot Com eventually wants to make money and is offering to link to your blog if you review his blog.

- Jon Lee – is a chinese-canadian web developer and a high school teacher running a personal blog with how to, linux, wordpress, and of course web development.
- Nuker - a blog for a random source of information from a blogger using his fairly nice gaming rig to nuke out one article after another.
- Xzblogs - Ok my Spanish is not so great but from what I can tell this blog is includes articles on; adsense, wordpress, caso pratico, and Posicionamiento.
- Phatlip – Kyle a computer enthusiast that focuses on the quirks of humanity or if you like call it the offbeat news of the world that everyone likes to read about but not experience.
- BobMeetsWorld - Bob the very clever successful Dutchman blogger living Ireland tells many but I am sure not all of his record breaking traffic tips.
- Fuery - Johnny a geek speaker of real estate, landlording, technology, and business ideas today and did know that all women secretly despise beta males – gapingvoid.
- Best-Blog-Basket – Mohit Singhania a blogger in the zone of Indian Cricket Online Managa cricket, videos, blog tips and even a hack resource.
- The Beginning - Dan wants to be rich and he started stock trading but really sucks at it so now he’s blogging his way into an enlightened inner game state of being on his Wealth Health Life Blog.
- Vin – has great advice on his blog Betabloggerfordummies on complete help on new blogger hacks, templates. Search engine optimization blogging tips and tricks making money through blogs and web design.

The rules I will do a short review with a link to your site with choice of anchor text in exchange for the same in return. The short review batch will consist of 10 reviews with link of choice (anchor) and up to 30 words for review. The batch will be posted starting with the first review and then updated until reaching the 10th review and then a new batch will be created. Then once a month for the next 6 months I will post one full review to the holder of the Top Commentators position. Commenting Policy
Just a minute of your time to address leaving comments on Ja Kel Daily Dot Com. I am aware that there are several reasons in which blog readers’ view and use comment sections of perspective blogs. Every blogger has their own set of standards of what is and is not acceptable on their blog, some may allow all comments, others may have language standards and some do not allow signature links etc. My standards up front; I allow all legitimate comments, signatures with links, express your opinions and do not allow links to pornographic related sites.
Comments– The most important aspect of Ja Kel Daily Dot Com. You are the customer and are always right in most cases. Without your comments I do not have an interested audience, so why should I blog in the first place. Please comment whether you are a first time reader or have been coming here for quite some time.
Spam – I have Akismet spam filter in place which automatically catches the majority of spam and some times it even stops real comments. If by chance one of your comments gets trashed please email me and I will do my best to make sure it does not happen again. If by chance you are a low life spammer and get through I will eventually see it and delete it. At the time of posting this my blog has received well over 300 spam comments in just around 9 weeks.
Links– When leaving a comment with a link within the post it must have a relevance to that particular article because if it does not then it will be deleted. Before attempting such an approach as spam linking in a comments section you should step back from the computer and think about it for a minute or two because if you really want to piss a blogger off, this is it.
Signatures- I allow comments with signatures but once again the comment must have relevance to the article that it is posted in. I not attempting to be rude here but I have no intentions of working my back side off for people that want to abuse blogs just for the sake of getting free links.
It is unfortunate that due to certain circumstances that there is a need for a comment policy. I would like to think that all people that come to Ja Kel Daily Dot Com are honest and do not have any false spamming intentions in mind but this is not the case, is it. So I felt I should address these issues from the start that way you know where I stand and I will be reserving the right to block anyones comments which I do not like.
